VEGAN JACKFRUIT BUFFALO WINGS

Make your own delicious jackfruit wings with buffalo sauce to wow a crowd!

This recipe has a lot of ingredients, but most are already in your pantry.  Just make sure you pick up jackfruit in BRINE and not in syrup when making this recipe!

STEP 1: 

Start by adding the tofu, apple cider vinegar, and water in a bowl and blending until it is smooth. Set aside. 

STEP 2: 

Then you will drain the jackfruit and remove all of the seeds.  Shred the remaining "meat" and place in a bowl.

STEP 3: 

Now, whisk together the wheat gluten, flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt until combined. 

STEP 4: 

Next, you will combine the flour mixture with the jackfruit and tofu mixture.  Stir or mix together until it's all incorporated into a paste.

STEP 5: 

Shape your "wings" or roll into balls that are around 1" thick.  You can make these any shape you prefer. 

STEP 6: 

Place the "wings" in a single layer into the basket of your steamer.  Steam these for 30 minutes, then remove and let them cool for 5 minutes. 

STEP 7: 

Now, fry the wings for 2 to 3 minutes per side until they are golden and crispy.  Remove from the pan and toss with vegan buffalo sauce. 

Serve your "wings" with dipping sauce and some fresh vegetables.  A vegan ranch or vegan blue cheese sauce are perfect!
